HOW DR. SCHOLL’S BEGAN

The famous Dr. Scholls brand started from Dr. William Mathias Scholl who left his family farm to get a medical degree in Chicago. After realizing how popular foot pain was, Scholl created the “Foot-Eazer”, an arch supporting insole that relieved pain and fixed posture. Dr. Scholl had created his first product at age 22, and by 1907, established the Scholl Manufacturing Company. The “Foot-Eazer” was only the beginning for Dr. Scholl’s foot care line, selling over 1,000 different products throughout the 20th century.

DR. SCHOLL’S SUCCESSFUL CAREER

Dr. Scholl not only produced foot care products for the everyday consumer, but also established the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, which is now part of Rosalind Franklin University. By 1961, Scholl created a staple in the fashion industry with the release of the wooden Scholl Exercise sandals, especially popular in the 1970’s. The Dr. Scholl’s brand went through many different companies after going public and the death of Dr. William Scholl in 1968. However, Dr. Scholls still remains one of the most recognizable foot care and comfort industries in the world.
