QUAKER OATS

BUILDING THE QUAKER OATS COMPANY

Quaker Oats started when Henry Parsons Crowell purchased the Quaker Mill Company in Ravenna, Ohio, in 1877 and began marketing oat products under the Quaker name. The famous fictional mascot across all the packaging was the first registered trademark for breakfast cereal in North America and was chosen to represent honesty, integrity, purity, and strength. The Quaker Mill Company decided to merge with other leading oat millers in 1901, including the German Mills American Oatmeal Company and the Rob Lewis Company, to form the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, Illinois. Through their iconic packaging, innovative advertising, and consistent production of high-quality oats, the Quaker Oats Company transformed oatmeal into the classic breakfast it is today.

A PIONEER OF PACKAGED BREAKFAST FOODS

Quaker Oats expanded beyond just oatmeal, introducing breakfast cereals, pancake mixes, granola bars, and other grain-based products, becoming one of the most successful food brands in the world. The Quaker Oats Company and figure became more popular than ever during the twentieth century and remained a staple in the food industry. By 2001, the Quaker Oats Company was bought by PepsiCo, and Quaker Oats products have been manufactured by them ever since. The famous Quaker Oats brand has remained a leader in the food industry for over a century since its beginning, symbolizing quality, nutrition, and innovation, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
